Look familiar? Are you one of the students who has a B in first period?

We recently conducted a survey out of 300 students at our school. We found that the majority of kids had a B in first period. We asked them how much a later start time would benefit their grade in first period. A Junior who has chosen to remain anonymous replied “I have a B in first period, a very low one at that. It’s really not the homework that gets to me; it’s the fact that I have to wake up so early every day and cannot concentrate on a test so early in the morning. An 8:15 start time would really help me. I think I could raise my grade to an A by the end of the semester if I had an extra 27 minutes to wake up and get focused on school.”

We believe students will be more alert in class, have a better attitude towards learning, arrive to class on time, and even report eating a healthier breakfast due to a later start. This new start time could be extremely beneficial to everyone.
