Are you awake? Didn’t think so.
Our current student body is in the wrong mind set. We believe we can get by without sleep or manipulate when we sleep without any consequences, but this is entirely wrong. According to experts most people need between seven and nine hours of sleep, although it may vary from person to person. Studies show that an increased risk for disease starts to kick in when people get less than seven hours of sleep per night.
Disease? Wait, what? I can see you’re finally paying attention. Participation point for you.
Difficulty sleeping is an extremely big sign for a serious illness. Studies have proven that people who slept the least appeared to be significantly more likely to die. So how does this apply to us? We are tremendously vulnerable! We’re teenagers living an active lifestyle. ROP classes after school, sports, homework, etc. The list goes on & on. We need a minimum of seven hours of sleep per night just to function properly.

This is what we had in mind. Our current school schedule has us beginning school at 7:48 AM. We propose that our school switch starting time to 8:15. This could improve the statistics that we recently discovered. To see these, click on our “Shocking Statistics” link.
